The Care Team

At Outreach we recruit local carers who meet our high standards. Our staff are friendly, caring, reliable and have good communication skills. We check references and undertake enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) checks on all employees to ensure you are cared for safely and carers wear the Outreach navy uniform with a photo identification badge for easy recognition.

Small teams of carers work in the different areas covered by Outreach to enable continuity for clients. The carers are trained to respect you and your family, maintain your dignity and privacy whilst giving you choice in all aspects of your care. We will promote your independence, encouraging you to assist with daily tasks where possible, for example you may not need assistance with putting on clothes but may need a little help with fastening buttons. Team leaders observe the carers and we regularly seek your feedback on the services provided.

All employees receive training in mandatory subjects - Health, Food and Fire Safety, First Aid, Moving and Handling of Individuals, Medication Administration and Safeguarding of Individuals. Our in-house trainer presents these courses in our training suite to enable new and existing staff to develop their knowledge and skills. We also provide other training courses including Dementia, Equality and Diversity, Palliative Care, Sensory Impairment, Diabetes and Risk Assessment, enabling carers to meet the diverse needs of individuals in the community.

Carers and Managers undertake Diplomas in Health and Social Care during which they must evidence their knowledge and practical skills when caring for individuals with differing needs. Carers are trained to use equipment such as hoists, stand aids and slide sheets to enable them to move clients safely and comfortably. Safeguarding training assists staff to recognise and respond to any concerns regarding your well being and safety.
